Best Chicago Rooftop Bars 2016

Spring is in full swing here in Chicago and that means summer is just around the corner.  This time of year marks the start of one of our favorite things to do in Chicago, and that is visiting rooftop bars and restaurants.  Nothing says good weather then grabbing a bite and a drink outside overlooking our beautiful city.  As you may know, Planned Property has buildings ranging from the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, and Lakeview with plenty of neighborhoods to boot.  All of which our filled with some pretty awesome rooftop bars that you must visit.  At PPM, your just steps from all the fun this spring!  However, spring also means that the weather can still swing in pretty crazy directions.  Don’t despair though, we found the 5 best all-weather rooftop bars to hit rain or shine spring 2016.   Checkout our picks below!

J. Parker

J. Parker located at 1816 N. Clark St. is a hustling bustling place to be in the summer atop hotel Lincoln.  But what many people don’t know is that when the weather gets breezy there is a full on convertible roof.  The rooftop also over looks Lincoln Park towards the lake with plenty of snacks and drink options.

IO Godfrey

Looking to spice up the night in the Gold Coast?  Hit IO at 127 W. Huron St. a must visit this summer for some great rooftop fun.  If we get those spring showers however, fear not the entire bar has a cover and glass doors that come into play for those tricky weather days.  This is definitely the rooftop you want to class up your night!

This is quite the cool place, featuring a leather bound library inside and a pretty pumped bar scene on the outside.  When it’s rainy or even cold, you still can grab a great drink and view in the hallway off the main dining room that looks right out onto Chicago’s rooftops.  Located at 201 E. Delaware St.

A rooftop bar that’s only been open for about a year, situated on top of the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel is a sight to see.  This is also a great spot if the weather is still a bit cold because it has this huge, high glass roof that gives you the feeling of being outside.  You also get a balcony view of Millennium Park and the Lake!  This is a must see this spring and located at 12 S. Michigan Ave.

Our final pick is of course the famous GreenRiver at 259 E. Erie St.  Not technically a rooftop but offers a huge wraparound porch with a great view and a great spot no matter the season.  Also they just opened the Annex, a smaller cocktail spot for some unique in-house mixes.  Combine the drinks, the view, and you just can’t go wrong with the GreenRiver.

Lollapalooza 2015

Lollapalooza is just around the corner. We are all extremely hyped up for all the weekend events and shows to be held at Grant Park at this annual event in Chicago. Bringing musicians and bands across the globe to play in the city we call home. However, for some of us, whichever the reason may be, will not be attending. Be it work, family, or other activities, it still does not mean you cannot participate in Lollapalooza in some way.

So what do we mean by that? Well the after parties, that’s right many of the bands at this year’s Lollapalooza will also be performing after parties throughout the city before and after the official Lollapalooza schedule. Ranging from the House of Blues in River North to the Vick Theater in Lakeview. There is something for everyone no matter your location or schedule.
